The Most Advanced Dental Simulation Lab in Qatar Goes Live
In September 2021, the most advanced dental simulation lab in Qatar opened at the College of Dentistry at Qatar University. A total of 32 simulation stations are used to train dental students, preparing them optimally for their future profession as dentists.
The entire skills lab is equipped with technology from Hesse. The simulation stations from Dentsply Sirona, based in Bensheim, are multimedia networked with the alphadidact® Digital Multimedia System from EBS in Heusenstamm.
Numerous individual requirements of Qatar University were considered and implemented.
For example, the training lab can be divided into two independent groups, each with one instructor and 16 students. If a larger group needs to be trained, one button press is all it takes to switch to a setup with one instructor and 32 students.
The alphadidact® Digital Multimedia System is operated via two EBS touchscreens, with one control unit for each group of 16 participants.

With the press of a button, the “Master” mode can be activated, allowing the instructor to have individual access to all 32 workstations.

Another requirement from Qatar University was to provide each student with a connection for their own laptop (BYOD).
Through an automatic digital EBS switch in the alphadidact® Digital Multimedia System, students have access to their laptop signal or the provided Cerec CAD signal.
The technology from EBS enables lag-free signal transmission from the digital Cerec CAD systems, laptops, and microscope cameras to all monitors as well as two large screens.
The live work of an individual student at the microscope is transmitted to all connected screens, lag-free, at the press of a button.
Interactive and dynamic training becomes possible through the integration of individual participants. Each workstation can be switched to a signal source and thus become the “presenter.”
With the installation of EBS multimedia technology, students can be trained simultaneously at each workstation and follow presentations from instructors and classmates in real time.
Even in the back rows of the training lab, participants can follow the training content in optimal quality and see it in detail.
The digital multimedia systems are developed by EBS in Germany and are already in use in numerous training rooms and labs worldwide.
