The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) was founded in 2006 to offer high-quality, American-style higher education in Iraq. Since its official opening in 2007, the university has evolved into a leading educational institution with over 1,400 students. A central goal of AUIS is to promote innovative teaching methods that foster critical thinking and practical learning.

To support this mission, the university decided to establish a state-of-the-art simulation lab equipped with cutting-edge digital teaching tools. In February 2024, the EBS alphadidact Digital Multimedia System was installed, creating an interactive and efficient learning environment for one professor and 30 students.

Challenge

Before implementing the new system, AUIS faculty faced several challenges:

  • Limited visibility of the professor and instructional content

  • Lack of interactive teaching methods in the simulation lab

  • Restricted real-time collaboration between professor and students

  • Growing demand for modern digital tools to enhance practical training

The university sought a solution that would enable interactive communication in the classroom while enhancing teaching quality and student engagement.

Solution: alphadidact Digital Multimedia System

After a thorough evaluation, AUIS selected the EBS alphadidact Digital Multimedia System, specifically designed for multimedia-based educational settings. Key advantages include:

  • Real-time content transmission
The professor can share instructional materials directly on students’ screens, increasing attention and understanding.

  • Interactive control
The system allows real-time interaction through screen sharing and individual device control.

  • Optimized teaching methods
Visual and interactive tools support hands-on learning, especially in simulation-based courses.

Results

Since implementation, the system has led to measurable improvements:

  • Greater interactivity
Students now actively participate in simulations, ask questions via the system, and benefit from enhanced visuals.

  • Improved teaching quality
Instructors present complex content more clearly and maintain better control of the classroom.

  • Efficient use of time
The system reduces distractions and supports a more structured learning environment.

Conclusion

The introduction of the EBS alphadidact Digital Multimedia System at AUIS represents a significant milestone in the modernization of higher education in Iraq. The technology improves interaction, fosters engagement, and contributes to sustainable quality in teaching.

The successful implementation at AUIS serves as a model for other educational institutions — in Iraq and beyond.
