The Center for Dentistry, Oral, and Maxillofacial Medicine (Carolinum) is part of the Faculty of Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt. Over 20 years ago, in early 2003, the first videodidact® Select systems from EBS Euchner Büro- und Schulsysteme GmbH were installed at Carolinum Frankfurt.

As part of a modernization and expansion of training capacities, the “old” VGA systems were replaced with new alphadidact® Digital multimedia systems in January 2023.

In now three laboratories with nearly 100 simulation stations, dental students can be trained with the latest technology.

A bidirectional connection via optical fiber cables links all three laboratories. With just one keystroke, a high-resolution microscope signal, for example, can be transmitted to 100 screens across three rooms—lag-free and in high digital resolution.

An individually tailored touchscreen for each training lab allows control of workstations within the lab, as well as selective signal transmission to other training rooms.

In addition to operating via the 10″ touchscreen, instructors are also provided with an iPad, including the EBS alphadidact app.

With over 100 digital HDMI inputs and outputs, the system ensures maximum flexibility in training. Whether a microscope, document camera, laptop, or tablet—simply connect and transfer the signal to the desired workstation screens.

As part of the standard delivery, alphadidact® Digital offers a signal input per participant station, for example, for connecting any tablet or laptop.

Interactive and dynamic training is made possible through the integration of individual participants. Each workstation can be switched to a signal source and thus become the “presenter.”

Even in the back rows of the training lab, participants can follow the training content in optimal quality and see it in detail.

The digital multimedia systems are developed by EBS in Germany and are already in use in numerous training rooms and labs worldwide.
