alphadidact® Digital at Nicolaus Copernicus University

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (NCU) was founded in 1945. It is one of the largest universities in Poland and currently consists of 16 faculties (including 3 medical faculties at the Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz). The university employs 4,052 staff members across its locations in Toruń and Bydgoszcz, more than half of whom are academic teachers.

In a Europe-wide selection process, the Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń chose the alphadidact® Digital multimedia training system from EBS in June 2020.

19 Leica microscopes (1 instructor + 18 students) were multimedia-networked. EBS technology enables the image transmission of digital microscope cameras to all monitors, as well as to projectors and large screens.

The live work of an individual student at the microscope is transmitted lag-free to all connected screens. The signal is transmitted in high resolution and is executed with just one keystroke.

Interactive and dynamic training becomes possible by integrating individual participants. Each workstation can be switched to a signal source, making it the “presenter.”

With the installation of EBS multimedia technology, students can be trained simultaneously at each workstation and follow presentations from instructors and classmates in real-time.

Even in the back rows of the training lab, participants can follow the training content in optimal quality and, for example, examine samples in detail.

The digital multimedia systems are developed by EBS in Germany and are already in use in numerous training rooms and labs worldwide.
