"EIS" Training Labs Opened for New Apprenticeship Program at Various VW Academies

In January 2020, the first so-called EIS lab was opened at the Volkswagen plant in Salzgitter. EIS stands for the profession “Electronics Technician for Information and System Technology.” This relatively new profession combines electronics and IT technology. Between 2020 and 2024, additional labs at the locations in Braunschweig, Emden, Salzgitter, and Wolfsburg were equipped with alphadidact® Digital systems.

The apprentices learn skills for assembling, installing, and configuring Industry 4.0 systems and can develop electronic components.

Fully equipped lab tables are available for training, and these are networked via the EBS multimedia system, alphadidact® Digital.

Through the two EBS 7” touchscreens, screen content can be transferred from or to any of the 1+12 dual-monitor workstations.

Signal transmission from a visualizer or individual PCs and thin clients occurs in high digital and native resolution.

Through an additional EBS 4×4 matrix integrated into the alphadidact® Digital system, signal sources such as document cameras, microscopes, laptops, and tablets/smartphones can be simultaneously sent to all monitors and an interactive whiteboard.

The alphadidact® Digital functions are operated with a keystroke. Due to its design, the system is maintenance-free, highly reliable, and completely independent of the hardware and software used in the lab.

In this modern lab, Industry 4.0 comes to life. People communicate digitally with electronics, sensors, robotics, and production systems.

The digital multimedia systems are developed by EBS in Germany and are already in use in numerous training rooms and labs worldwide.
