Chamber of Crafts Cologne Equips Training Rooms
alphadidact® Digital Multimedia Training Systems Implemented in Various IT Rooms and Workshops
As part of a broad campus modernization effort, the Chamber of Crafts (HWK) Cologne has equipped nine training rooms with alphadidact® Digital Multimedia Training Systems from EBS Euchner Büro- und Schulsysteme GmbH.
These upgraded facilities include several IT training rooms and directly connected workshops, including a state-of-the-art automotive training workshop. The aim: to improve training quality by combining theory and practice through efficient, hands-on knowledge transfer.
Initial Situation & Challenge
HWK Cologne sought to increase training efficiency and practical relevance, particularly within the automotive sector. Key challenges included:
-
Trainees previously had to gather directly under vehicles to observe complex work steps, such as on the rear axle.
-
Limited visibility made it difficult for all trainees to clearly follow each step simultaneously.
-
IT training rooms were not directly connected to the hands-on workstations in the workshops.
The Solution
The solution was the installation of alphadidact® Digital Multimedia Systems across all training rooms. By digitally linking IT training rooms with adjoining workshops – especially the automotive workshop – theory and practice could be taught in parallel.
Technical Implementation
-
A high-resolution camera was mounted directly at the vehicle lift in the automotive workshop.
-
The camera feed is transmitted in real time and full, uncompressed resolution to all screens in the connected IT training room via the alphadidact® system.
-
Instructors can clearly demonstrate work steps (e.g., on the rear axle) without requiring physical crowding under the vehicle.
-
Central touchscreen control via alphadidact® enables instructors to flexibly switch between video sources – such as camera, PC, or laptop.
Results
✅ Improved visibility and understanding
All trainees receive a detailed and clear view of processes, improving learning outcomes.
✅ Increased safety
Students no longer need to stand beneath vehicles, reducing potential risks and improving comfort.
✅ More efficient lesson structure
Instructors can address questions quickly and explain complex processes in greater detail.
✅ Flexible teaching approach
Seamless switching between live video, presentations, and PC content supports a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
Customer Feedback
“The installation of the alphadidact® system has significantly improved our training quality. The ability to transmit complex work processes directly to the screens in the training room has greatly enhanced the learning experience.”
Conclusion
The successful implementation of alphadidact® Digital Multimedia Systems at HWK Cologne has transformed the training environment. Combining hands-on demonstrations with digital transmission enables a modern, efficient, and safe learning experience – delivering real value for the next generation of skilled professionals.
